Where did you go Grannie.?

Well seeing as you asked. We (me and him) have been to Australia, Melbourne for the main but with side trips to New Zealand, Tasmania and Airlie Beach, which is in Queensland.
We visited with our son and daughter-in-law who live in Melbourne.

I love to travel so 24 hours on a plane trip seems like fun. The reality is not quite so much fun but still it gets the job done. We travelled with Emirates and they look after you well, food is good and wine is free, they also have a good range of films to watch (usually) we missed my favourites Indiana Jones and Pirates of the Caribbean as they had just changed the schedule's.

One of the things about Australia is extremes , the weather is extreme and on the day we landed Melbourne had the hottest day in it's history and along with that one of the greatest disasters in Victoria.

They now call it 'Black Saturday' bush fires swept though towns and left about 200 people dead.

Every where we went there were collection buckets for the homeless and those bereaved. It makes you feel a bit odd having a holiday when all around you people are suffering. I went to church and said prayers and every time we were given the option our change went in one of the buckets.

I hope it helped someone.
